What we collect, and why
If you send an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, telephone number if you give one, the practice area you select and whatever you write in the message. We use it to answer you and, if we go on to act for you, to open and run the matter.
If you apply for a role, we collect your name, email address, telephone number if you give one, the area of practice you are interested in, your covering note and your CV together with everything in it. We use it to consider you for the role and, with your agreement, for future openings.
If you agree to analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how pages on this site are used. That information is about behaviour on the site, not about matters you may discuss with us.
Our lawful basis
We rely on your consent for analytics cookies and for keeping a CV on file, and you may withdraw either at any time. We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us for enquiries, and on taking steps at your request before entering a contract where you are instructing us.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become matters are kept for up to twelve months, so that we can pick up a conversation that resumes. Where we are instructed, the file is kept for as long as professional and regulatory obligations require.
CVs are kept for twelve months from the date you send them, unless you ask us to remove yours sooner. Where we take you on, your CV becomes part of your employment record.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for marketing. A small number of service providers process it so that this website can work: the company that hosts the site, the one that holds our database, the one that stores files you upload to us including CVs, the one that delivers our email, and Google, which provides analytics where you have agreed to it. Each is bound to use the information only as we instruct, and we will tell you who they are if you ask.
Some of these providers operate outside Nigeria, which means your information may be processed abroad under their own contractual protections.
Cookies
This site sets no analytics cookies until you accept them. If you decline, or simply never answer, nothing is sent to Google about your visit. Your choice is remembered in your own browser, and clearing your browser data will cause us to ask again.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you may ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, object to our using it, or withdraw consent you have given. Write to us at the address above and we will respond.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Keeping your information safe
Access to enquiries and applications is limited to members of the firm who need it, and is protected by individual accounts with two-factor authentication. CVs are stored privately and are never published on this website.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date shown at the top of it.
