Criminal defence
An accusation is not a finding. Everyone is entitled to a defence properly put, and to be heard before anything is decided against them.
We act for individuals and companies at every stage of a criminal matter, from the first invitation to attend a police station through to trial and, where it is warranted, appeal.
What we handle
- Police and regulatory investigations, including attendance at interviews
- Bail applications and applications for the enforcement of personal liberty
- Financial and economic crime, including fraud and allegations of corruption
- Offences against the person and against property
- Cybercrime and offences under the Cybercrimes Act
- Trial advocacy before the Magistrate Courts, State High Courts and the Federal High Court
- Appeals to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria
Before charges are brought
The early hours of an investigation often shape everything that follows. We advise clients before they answer questions, attend with them at interviews, and engage with investigating authorities on their behalf, so that their position is put properly from the outset rather than repaired later.
Our approach
We examine the strength of the case against a client before anything else: what is alleged, what can actually be proved, and whether the procedure followed was lawful. From there we advise candidly on the options and their consequences.
Criminal allegations reach beyond the courtroom, into a client’s livelihood, family and standing. Our work is conducted with discretion, and directed at protecting both their legal position and the interests that sit behind it.
